If you’ve ever had your heart smashed in Florida and slowly lost your mind because there’s definitely something trying to eat you in your backyard, then this one is for you.
I watched this drunk as hell for the first time right after my ex had cheated on me with one of his coworkers from PUBLIX (don’t date anyone who works at Publix, they’re nuts) during Covid and honestly don’t remember much.
After much soul searching, a new job, 4 years, and a few tattoos later i was watching this after another of my friends had gotten married and thought to myself, huh I think this is familiar.
Now instead of thinking I had seen this before, because I am AN IDIOT.. I was immediately mad at the directors because I thought they had ripped off another director from years earlier. Turns out it was in fact the same movie and I am indeed, say it with me, AN IDIOT. Thankfully imbd did save me before I went on an online rant. Which is ironic because imbd cannot save me now.
The movie itself is very reminiscent of my life in Florida as a service industry worker, you do a lot of nothing but yap for long periods of time and then something really weird happens and you gotta figure out “how” and “from where”.
I personally, enjoyed it! 4 stars! We need more original southern gothic horror movies. And if you’re thinking to yourself, huh I don’t actually think that was southern gothic!? Yes. It was. From a Florida girl who has to make sure a gator isn’t following her when she takes a walk around her pond.
