What I expected from azumi was honestly a typical female samurai/assassin revenge story. What I got was a kind of epic saga about a group of young assassins on a mission to kill all the warlords in Japan and the effect it has on them. This movie surprised me. I really really liked it. The action was very 2000s but it was very cool. I especially loved the final battle where azumi goes all out on everyone. Sure some effects weren't amazing but it stays a very awesome sword fights and a very fun final battle. The story is cool too. Following the students and their master as they hunt down warlords who want to make war. What surprised Me was the epic feel of it. There are moments that feel like each part has an arc snd it's excecuted well too. So I love the story too especially the one focusing on azumi herself. The characters are pretty entertaining too. Azumi story is the most interesting snd fun to follow. Seeing her develop and accept herself is done well. The poison villian was pretty fun too. He had cool and tense moments especially in fighting one of the other assassins. All the characters were fun and engaging. The music was good too especially in the final fight. Azumi is just a fun movie with a 2000s vibe. It's not the best assassin/samurai action one out there but it has a surprisingly more complex story. So I had a great time with it.
