What if a cut rate Predator had many years ago taught humanity Jiu Jitsu and then returns every 6 years to fight our very best warriors?
Or something. My mind drifted quite a bit.
Cage is a bit player in this confused Sci-fi martial arts fest. Our hero is Jake (later era Kickboxer star Alain Moussi), who via the magic of an amnesiac plot device, has some badass jiu jitsu skills but no actual idea how or what to do with them. His old crew show up, including Frank Grillo, JuJu Chan and Tony Jaa, explain the plot and then we get endless fight scenes against what amounts to a lava lamp faced power ranger villain.
Cage plays a burnt out Dennis Hopper style Marital arts master maaaaan.
This was based on a comic by the same name, from director Dimitri Logothetis and co-screenwriter James McGrath). The pair went to (legal) war with the Cypriot government due to unpaid tax concessions related to the production of the film.
