itchiest movie ever made. gorgeous cinematography and bug close-ups. cannot imagine how this all came together. this would be a perfect double feature with them! — and not just because of ants, but because they're both way better than i thought they would be and both explore our insignificance and similarity to the common insect. This movie is incredibly conflicting to me because of just how smart it is. I was recently talking about how many sci-fi stories aren’t actually asking anything or even saying anything, and this is definitely saying something. It just feels so fucking stupid and silly that I can’t take it seriously. The most captivating and visually interesting part of the film is the final 2 minutes + the cut extended ending, and while that’s not necessarily an issue on it’s own, I found the rest of the film to be kind of a slog to get through. Not to mention, even the incredible closing sequence didn’t really feel like a great payoff for sitting through the rest of the movie lmao.

Ants are awesome tho
