i honestly didn’t expect Quo Vadis to affect me this much. i thought it would just be a long historical movie about ancient rome, but it turned out to be way heavier than i expected. some scenes are honestly disturbing. the cruelty, the chaos, and the way christians are treated under nero makes the whole world feel dark and hopeless. watching people suffer just because of their faith was really hard to sit through at times. but at the same time the movie shows something really powerful. even when everything around them is violent and corrupt, the christians still believe, forgive, and stay loyal to what they think is right. that contrast between the brutality of rome and the quiet strength of their faith is probably the most memorable part of the film. (the actresses were gorgeous too holy)
