This movie is a catastrophe on every technical level — from the camera work to the editing, and there’s barely even a screenplay to speak of. Everything feels uncanny and off, which might be intentional, but it completely fails to connect with me.
Still, somehow, it kept my attention until the end — but nothing beyond that. On MUBI, there’s a short introduction by Werner Herzog giving some context before the film starts. Honestly, I think without that introduction, I wouldn’t have made it through. The name and the context make it interesting, but without them, the film itself just doesn’t manage to tell what it needs to, to be a good movie for itself. I get it, what Herzog wanted to do with this but in the end its nothing more than an more or less interesting experiment with a few cute moments.
