I know you like to play the big, tough, rough guy, but deep down, you’re just a sentimental slob
So so so ugly, perverse, and, while the caked on style may seem inviting and the performances are indelible, This World, Then The Fireworks is, ultimately, a pretentious chore. Regardless, there is something remarkable about just how cartoonishly noir and deliriously cruel this film is. It’s almost fetishizing or waxing nostalgia for the vulgar and misogynistic side of hard-boiled noir of the past.
So so so ugly, perverse, and, while the caked on style may seem inviting and the performances are indelible, This World, Then The Fireworks is, ultimately, a pretentious chore.
