Heist films. They've been done time and time again (then, pretty much every story has), so how do you make a unique one. Turn it into an art piece. Well, try to.
That's what Neil Jordan has done with The Good Thief. The problem is, it's an art film featuring a heist. At times it works but, it gets old, rather quickly.
Bolter is good, as he usually is and the same goes for Tchéky Karyo, but the same cannot be said for most of the other bit parts. Dodgy acting, some iffy dialogue and odd camera shots (typical of art pieces), cannot turn this into fair movie with a disappointing finale.
There is some good music throughout, but not enough to save it.
