imagine naming your children mytyl and tyltyl… lol
yeah.. this was just a copy of the wizard of oz, and it doesn’t even try and hide it. the technicolor in this film is beautiful, it has a lavish atmospheric feel to it and its absolutely filled with colour, and it has that nice classic hollywood style. shirley temple is great in this film, even at a young age she was an amazing performer and she pulls of the brat version of dorothy gale. tylette the cat was also portrayed very well, and she was by far the best character. this film feels very fever dream esque and there’s a lot of memorable scenes throughout. but it’s really doesn’t live up to the wizard of oz, and besides the visuals and acting it doesn’t have much else going for it. the plot feels disjointed, the pacing is too slow and the storytelling isn’t very good, and it feels a little nonsensical.. also what the hell was the scene where they were all waiting to get born… tf?
