This was… good?! This is not the best representation of mental illnesses but we’re in 1964 here and we cannot expect it to read them with our 2025 lens. Jean Seberg and Warren Beatty were fantastic, especially her?!
Before watching this, I read reviews commenting on Warren Beatty’s lack of nuance in this, and while I agree with the idea, and how a stronger actor might’ve given Vincent more depth by making his downward spiral more progressive and realistic, I did enjoy his analysis of the role. He showed an already troubled young man struggling to hide his own shortcomings, falling in love or rather obsession with Jean Seberg’s character.
