An absolutely fantastic western with some very pretty cinematography! Written by, and starring Jack Nicholson, Ride in the Whirlwind is, in my opinion, a fascinating western that explores its themes in an interesting manner. The movie, at least to me, seems to explore themes of morality through the lawmen in the movie. The central trio are wrongly hunted throughout the majority of the film for crimes they did not commit. The posse of three desperately try and escape hanging, and in doing so end up being forced to commit crimes themselves. The debate this brings up is whether this is okay or whether they should be punished for these actions. I think this is an interesting premise for a western to explore and the way the narrative flowed felt so effortless and smooth. The performances are solid all round, with the standout of course being Nicholson, and the colours and cinematography can both be gorgeous. Overall a really great and highly underrated/underappreciated film, and one I will be revisiting in the future for sure.
