but the cinematography? GAGGED. the visuals are a departure from most south korean films i’ve seen. it leans heavily into north american aesthetics. even though im not really into north american cinematography, the fusion of both visual worlds completely won me over

One of those movie u just go wow at the director’s eye for visuals and atmosphere. Especially the use of light leaking to light up the scenes, which I think is supposedly reflecting the state of the Koreans being repressed by the Japanese

Looked it up after watching the movie, the cinematographer won the baeksang grand prize… now it’s all making sense
