This is one of the hardest movies to watch of all time. I remember watching this for the first time in school right before Easter break and it really messed up quite a few people, people were in tears and rightfully so, it is a very powerful film. I really did love how the move would switch between things Jesus did before the events of the crucifixion and had it as a flashback, I thought it tied in another emotional layer to the film. One of the problems I had with the film was the inclusion of some of satans scenes, I didn’t mind he was there as like a bystander but there’s a few scenes with him that were just kind of weird like him with the baby and him shown after Jesus died. It was just a bit funky and took away from the movie a bit. The actor for Jesus did a phenomenal performance, even though he didn’t go through what Jesus went through, he did suffer in the role he played, like he got struck by lightning and actually whipped which left him with a huge scar not to mention getting pneumonia. I commend him and all the other actors for their performance in this film, they were all incredible. I’ll watch again next year on Easter.

Mel Gibson could shoot a great looking movie. The language and the environment shown felt authentic. The work and time put into this movie is phenomenal. Even if you don’t believe that Jesus resurrected. The fact the this man was portrayed as a real person and actually thought he was taking all that abuse and torture for all us all is a beautiful story. Tough scenes for me to personally get through but I loved that this was shown in it’s entirety. It held as biblically accurate without sacrificing any of film’s entertainment quality. Interesting scenes when satan and demons are eerily and creatively displayed. Timeless movie.

Today is Easter. I watched this movie for the first time today and what an experience. I knew the recorded details of what Jesus went through for us. However, seeing this film’s attempt at capturing the pain and passion Jesus has for us on picture was like hearing about it for the first time. It took my breath away. This film was not enjoyable to watch. But this watch helped me gain more understanding of the passion of Jesus.
