okay, but the men in this movie… ugh i came in thinking it would be a cute living doll movie and NOPE every man is either aggressively patronizing, straight-up cruel, or gaslighting her in the dumbest ways and and that husband of hers istg she would say those depressing lines, and he'd be like "you're gorgeous." DEADASS. marie’s whole life is controlled, ignored, and sexualized. i feel for her so much it’s heartbreaking watching her try to survive a world where the people who should protect her just treat her like she doesn’t matter or like an object men are so disgusting
