I picked this on a whim because I saw it on Amazon Prime and had no idea what it was about, but I was very pleasantly surprised!
Thirst is a much different take on vampires than I’ve seen in other films. The plot is kind of strange and hard to follow with what’s real and what is a dream or fantasy of Kate’s, but in my opinion it makes the story all the more interesting. The visuals are hands down my favorite part of the film with interesting practical effects, great use of camera angles and lighting, and tons of different settings.
There’s also a ton of weird stuff involving blood including a woman falling into a huge vat of blood and a cat drinking blood from a milk carton. At some points the use of humans as a source of blood is sort of medical or similar to the meat industry which is super cool. It’s got a lot of sci-fi elements that I really enjoyed.
It’s weird as hell, but I love this! Highly recommend as a creative and different take on the vampire genre.
