I was genuinely surprised with the quality of this film. What I was expecting was a kind of half baked story that just had extreme bare bones of kung fu and Chinese history with choreography that, through heavy editing, would have just been absolutely nothing. But what I got instead was a film with some really amazing choreography and a script that, albeit, still has that cringy 2000s comedy, but deep within it, has a beautiful story about coming of age and honoring the ones that came before you through tradition and family. At the end of the day, some of these Disney Channel original films are truly diamonds in the rough, and you just have to know where you're looking.
