Easily one of the best bands ever and one of my personal favourites. Absolutely loved the band’s story told by the lead guitarist Robbie Robertson, I thought getting to see how the band came to be was really interesting and cool. Very unfortunate reason why the band decided to conclude with The Last Waltz but at least they went out with a bang. Watching this documentary made me seriously wonder where the band would have gone had drugs not completely taken over Levon Helm, Richard Manuel and Rick Danko’s lives.

Robbie Robertson does everything he can to deify himself in his own doco and he still comes across as a huge prick.
Perhaps it was too optimistic of me to think he might have become a little more circumspect in his old age, particularly now that the rest of the band (other than Garth) are dead. But no, saint Robbie can do no wrong it seems. At times this was like watching the film Mr. Burns made about himself in The Simpsons.
You truly are the king of kings, Robbie! What a dickhead.
But damn I love hearing the songs.
