Definitely a wild ride at the end, not a whole lot of dialogue going on here but that’s fine, it also can be a bit slow. Other than that, the movie is gorgeous and holds together phenomenally for being over 50 years old. The music is iconic and I didn’t realize how many movies gave respect or parodied this film, like even SpongeBob parodied the sound design of this film. It really is an iconic and fun thinker film, the ending is a wild ride. You should watch it, I’ll watch it again.

this is didappointing for me because this is dr. carl totton’s favorite movie (shoutout what’s this tao all about). this is especially a tragedy because i think the concepts are compelling, AND the way they go about it is also actually great, but the execution leaves so much lacking. I think this ultimately boils down to I don’t like Kubrick’s style - the long drawn out scenes are painful for someone like me. If i wanted to sit and contemplate each scene i would pause it. don’t pause it for me as the movie is playing.

exploration of human progress, evolution borne in conflict and survival, and the possibility of future enlightenment as a species beyond what we can comprehend is awesome. man i wish this was better.
