The thing I love the most of 70s horror is how willing to go weird and disturbing they were. The 80s were the Golden Age, the 90s were a lot of fun, and I’m very fond of the 2000s, but there’s something so distinct about the 70s that always impresses me. Mummy, Nanny, Sonny and Girly is such a movie, the premise itself is already bizarre, a blood-splattered mix of Les Enfants Terribles and The Beguiled, and it’s supported by strong performances of its ensemble cast, with a honorable mention to Vanessa Howard as Girly. I only wish it had delved more into how those people ended up in that situation, or who they really were. Are they even a family (probably not)? How did the game start? I’m curious because, again, the premise is fascinating, and I wanted to see more.
