I don't know why I didn't watch Frankenweenie when I was a child, because it's exactly the kind of film that was right up my alley then and now. It's a brilliant adaptation of 'Frankenstein', and chock-full to the brim with references to classic horror icons, from Christopher Lee in Dracula to a Godzilla-esque turtle wrecking havoc, not to mention details from the 1931 Frankenstein and its 1935 sequel, Bride of Frankenstein. The story itself is so good, and I don't think there was a single dull moment the entire hour and a half run-time. I loved the black-and-white scheme combined with Tim Burton's eerie stop-motion style, and the characters themselves were written really well. I don't think I disliked much of anything in this film, and overall, while I do like Corpse Bride just a tiny bit more, Frankenweenie is still one of the best stop-motion films I've ever seen.
