i watched this without making it revolve around hiv awareness so i actually didnt mind the exploitation of poverty porn. they used more problems like being a side family, technically orphaned, drug and alcohol abuse, fuckass household, betrayal of friends and etc that makes his life miserable which made it a little exaggerated but i accepted it as i understood that this is his life in film and im just an observer. i like the potrayal of teenage sex drive.

im assuming that those miserable life problems are his routine already so adding a disease at the start of the movie felt really mundane to him, maybe he's just dead inside already because i really didnt felt his emotion with how he speaks, with his expression, but maybe that was it. maybe his silence is the coping mechanism he has and had succumbed to it especially with the help of pot and alcohol.
