okay i just love the sentiment you can feel in this film. Sam Greenlee names the novel as a ‘step by step’ to revolt and revolution. It’s made in complete care for its intended audience… one thing which is missing from contemporary ‘radical’ movies.. cough obaa (which i loved)

Predictably, this suffers from the same hypermasculinity and undercurrent of unaddressed misogyny that still plagues black politics and art today; nevertheless, this is up there with Mahjong as one of the best “traditional” “crime” films I’ve seen.
