After watching the colorized version it’s given me a bit of a revelation about how even though filmed without color they pay close attention to color theory to make sure the colors don't blend too much.
But it makes me so sad that I will never be able to thank Piero Piccioni for the incredible work he’s done. Making some of the most beautiful music scores perhaps of all time. Each piece composed in this movie is an emotional beatdown with the final track delivering the killshot just before the credits roll.
A simple romcom film about the destructive force that is obsession and it’s ok to analyze and put it on a higher standard of film as a whole. But your enjoyment of film is much more important than the film actually being good of which I will probably be in the minority in saying this is both entertaining and good.
There’s something so real disguised under the over the top comedy aspects of chasing after something you cannot have. From both the husband and wife, both are complicit in the total breakdown of their marriage to differing degrees. She is just a blip in another man’s life but she believes its true love and he is just a footnote in her story but he fought so hard to love her despite the faults she has.
