Part of my lore (cringe) is that I met Latif and grew to know him and his family rather well in the in the late 2000-early 2010’s in Cyprus.
I was a school girl then and a new shisha lounge/care opened in Larnaca. My friends and I went so often that the owner took notice and thats how a friendship started.
Turns out the owner was Latif.
He’d opened the place with his wife while they lived in Cyprus for a bit.
Every time we’d go for shisha he would eventually come to our table and chat with us all.
He shared stories from his childhood, and at times would also share some stories about Uday and his time as his double.
We knew that eventually he wanted to get himself and his family to Ireland and that obviously happened once the shop closed up and we didn't see him again.
He gifted us all a copy of his book and I wish for the life of me I could find it but i seem to have lost it after moving so many times since then.
Looking back it’s pretty crazy to think of how I came to know Latif at one point of my life.
