Two Weeks in Another Town

Vincente Minnelli sure knows how to make a picture (pictchah**)! I think his direction brings out a lot of the great theatricality of Kirk Douglas. He has so much energy and presence that Minnelli lets flow unhinged. That's the strongest point of this film.

A close second for that title is the stunning setting. They shot in Rome and in Minnelli's signatory lurid colour. I devoured the visuals. There were some shots in this that were so jaw dropping, even for Minnelli.

But what I think I loved most of all were the references to The Bad and the Beautiful. Such a gorgeous film that seeped perfectly into this one. I want to relive it.
