Traumatized by a fishing boat accident many years before, Joe Gastineau has given up his hopes for a life beyond the odd jobs he takes to support himself. That quickly changes when nomadic club singer Donna de Angelo and her troubled teen-age daughter enter Joe’s life. Both mother and daughter fall for Joe, increasing the friction between them. The tension continues to build when Joe invites them on a pleasure cruise up the Alaskan coast, discovering too late that the trip may cost them their lives.

accidentally watched the after hours cinema edition(?), was both awesome and annoying to have random segments of commentary and trailers during a film that’s not even an hour long. anyways, this was simultaneously a feature-length version of Possibly in Michigan while also acting as a more contained version of Inland Empire! turning to this when i don’t want to commit to the long runtime. great movie about what it’s like to be a girl! an average day in my life tbh

Some of the most interesting editing I’ve seen in SOV horror. The only way to watch this without buying a physical copy (which I would consider once I get a new job) is on Tubi, or what I did which was watching this channel’s upload which is full of self-produced ad breaks.

So my immersion in the story and the beautiful crunchy camcorder footage kept getting interrupted which was frustrating. It’s an intentionally disorienting movie but I was struggling to follow it because the breaks come at times where it’s unclear what the conclusion of the previous part was, and where reality breaks and these visions of hell begin.

Not the best viewing experience but I can for surely appreciate the artistry here. Gotta watch more 90s SOV, it’s interesting to see the shifts in attitude and style from the 80s stuff.
