❝Envy the country that has heroes, huh? I say pity the country that needs them.❞
❝Only one thing worse than a dragon... Americans.❞

It's kinda crazy that before this film, I'd never considered a post-apocalyptic film about dragons. But, surprisingly, they do work. Reign of Fire has an interesting premise, and a pretty great cast, and while I like some aspects I think there could be improvements. The story started really well, but became a tad formulaic after a while which ruined the film for me quite a bit. I also thought that the dragons were cool but not utilised properly; they didn't feel like true adversaries until two-thirds of the way through. The cast, though, were excellent, especially Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey, but I was surprised by Gerald Butler's performance despite his limited screen-time. All said and done, I don't think it's completely up my alley, but Reign of Fire is certainly worth checking out if you like post-apocalyptic films.
