A terrifically interesting Italian political thriller, with the waveringly stoic Lino Ventura at the helm. Ventura plays the detective tasked with the mystery of multiple murdered Supreme Court judges, under very mysterious circumstances. He solely investigates these strange events and discovers a heap of powerful evidence and secretive information that puts him at terrible risk. The last half an hour was excellent, leaning the film into more of a paranoid thriller than a murder mystery. I really enjoyed this one, although I found it dragged slightly at certain points, it was overall a very enjoyable watch with a brilliant portrayal of the morally grey Italian political scene. The cinematography is superb, it’s a very beautiful film considering the subject.
