I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid, but this was one of the movies I very vividly remember watching frequently as a kid. This, Forrest Gump, Terminal, and Cinderella. an odd combination of movies im sure, but it's what we had and we were very poor so 🤷♂️
Gotta say, I did NOT remember the full blown fucking penetrative sex scene in this movie which definitely gave me pause for as second because I watched this movie with my mom countless times. LOL
Sometimes I think the male gaze-y ness of this movie was a bit much. Other times I think it works to the movies point, if there even is one. generously id say this movie could be seen as a women's empowerment thing and the whole stage fright thing being an allegory for women's oppression mayhaps? although I may be giving the movie a bit too much credit considering the only other movie this guy directed is kangaroo jack. which is another thing, probably would've been very pog to let a woman direct a movie like this? but maybe im being too 2022? idk
overall, still a really good time. the soundtrack is absolutely LOADED with bangers from the late 90s early 00s which if youve ever read my other reviews youll know is a big plus for me.
