Zëiram 2
As soon as I could, moved on to Zeiram 2. Like the first film, I think it's a rare work of genius. An amazing soundtrack again, absurdly good character designs, improved choreography and cinematography after what must have been many lessons making Kamen Rider ZO and J. It's only been, like, a little span of time since I watched the first, but I'm already excited to see these three. And Iria has a sketchy new partner...!

They give Iria a cooler/sexier look in this film, and paired with a better script, she's...insanely attractive in the sequel. I mean, good lord, man.

Is it a real friendship if they haven't saved you from a powerful and horrific biotech weapon?

There's one scene with the Zeiram in this film that made me immensely uncomfortable. Creepy and disgusting in about a hundred different ways.

This movie also does an absolutely phenomenal job at putting Iria into situations where she has to cope with her limitations as she desperately tries to protect her human partners. In the first movie, they basically had one trick, which was breaking the transporter, but there's a wider variety of dramatic situations which they impose on Iria in this film.

Just about the only thing this film doesn't do better than the first is that Zeiram's transformations aren't as good. They're generally much less extreme, and when we do finally get an insane Zeiram self-reconstruction it's on screen for about twenty seconds before getting blasted by Iria. And while it's more violent, with a wonderful bloody splatterfest when Zeiram shows up, it's also way less scuzzy, I'm afraid, with no vomit, nothing that looks like jizz, etc. Because of these facts, I do think it's actually slightly worse, but I'm sure there are freaks out there who showed up to this film prioritizing the script over fluids that look like jizz.

Chekhov's Mary Poppins umbrella. Chekhov's dog clone. Chekhov's statuette. There's a Great Sasuke match in this movie. Kamiya gets a second chance with his wife. The greatest fucking theme of all time. Five stars.

"Now that I'm here, there's nothing to worry about..."

once again very entertaining with some great action sequences & characters! unfortunately didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the first, but still it was a very good time and for sure a must for fans of cyberpunk! Iria is for sure one of the coolest film characters ever & Zëiram’s design is amazing! check this one out for sure

before watching i was theorizing that we'd be following a new duo of himbos but that wasnt the case here, but i was happy the boys are back in this one, iria kicks so much ass as always andz eiram's new design rocks so hard. fun follow up.
