Actually though a borderline psychotic film from a man who makes already psychotic films. Banderas and Anaya are incredible in this but I think the movie falls flat despite their performances. Almodóvar aims for an air of ephemera throughout that I think only actually forces the movie to feel a bit soulless at times. Sterile even (I suppose you can argue that’s the idea, but it doesn’t make for tantalizing viewing. This coupled with the fact that it is incapable of really building tension due to the form it chose to follow makes for the worlds mildest “thriller”.
Still a somewhat fun thinker of a film.
