Shrill redneck sleaze. Not the visceral meat-horror of TCM or Deliverance but like if those were cinnamon sticks and you were trying to make cinnamon syrup - typical hicksploitation and melodrama being the sugar and water - but you left it on the burner too long and you get a weird nightmare caramel. Unapproachable and unpleasant but a curiosity for sure.
