“*You know, that conversation changed my life. Now I find out you can’t be who you are, unless nobody around you disagrees with it.”
*
This movie talks about how you need to be truly who you are, because no matter if you pretend or are honest, there are always going to be people who love you, and people who don’t. And thats okay.
This is something that should be obvious, yet seeing it on screen made it feel so real, and added meaning to the words.
The three main characters are all so lovely. They are very different from eachother, yet their dynamics mix so well.
Beth and Frank, niece and uncle, are both the black sheep of their family. Which is portrayed so heartbreakingly yet beautifully.
The queer representation is done so realistically. It truly breaks my heart that not much has changed since the 70’s.
“I have no family.”
“You have me. Im your family, you're mine. Till death. You know it and God knows it and that’s all that matters.”
This scene absolutely made me bawl. Frank and Wally truly belong together.
Frank’s flashbacks to his youth make the story so much deeper than it already is. His story is absolutely heartbreaking, and i am so glad that he finds support in some people around him.
Probably one of my favorite watches recently. i loved it.
