“How can I give this pain to someone else?”
I can hardly remember the last time a film made me feel this much. Pieces of a Woman tells an incredibly complex story in such a raw, yet beautiful way. The attention to detail is absolutely unbelievable, with almost perfect directorial decisions.
And although the direction is phenomenal, the music is magical, and the film is beautifully shot, Vanessa Kirby’s performance is the greatest aspect of this film. She gives the performance of a lifetime, one that I don’t think I’ll ever stop thinking of.
In its weak moments, Shia LaBeouf’s presence in the film is absolutely horrendous, making me feel uncomfortable anytime he was on screen. Also, the supporting characters feel underwritten, making their screen time underwhelming. I would’ve loved to see Molly Parker’s character a bit more to understand her feelings more profoundly.
However, a phenomenal film overall. Really, really enjoyed it.
