Palestinian women, the often-forgotten victims of the Israeli-Palestinian war, are here given a voice by Jocelyne Saab. The film was commissioned by Antenne 2 (France), but it was censured while still in the editing stage and never shown. This print was specially made for this retrospective by the conservation centre at Cinemateca Portuguesa.

the women of the palestinian resistance are the backbone of it all, we have women to fought againt illiteracy, racism, facism, and the occupation forces.
they represent the fight of women everywhere, especially women in spaces of oppression. it’s incredible how the mini-documentary was filmed. not only that but it was completely real, it was the rawest form of media i’ve seen in a while.
the true fight for freedom is one of multiple bloodsheds, one that won’t stop until there’s a free palestine.
one day our sisters in palestine will be applauded for their strength and resilience.

A wonderful portrayal of the struggle of palestinian women.
It shows them as they were and still are. They are involved and militant members of the revolution and palestinian struggle and it proves that women - in palestine, but everywhere - are not voiceless domestic servants, but revolutionaries. They persevere through all kinds of degradation - the ones faced by every palestinian and the ones faced solely by (palestinian) women.
Hugely inspiring. Take ten minutes out of your day and watch this!

When I was doing research into Palestinian cinema one thing that immediately strikes me is that there’s as much or maybe even more Palestinian female filmmakers then there is male which is a sight both delightful and uncommon to see but watching this little short film, it becomes less surprising and more inspiring.
this battle resides not just politically or in the battlefield but the raising of future generations, to teach and nurture them is as important a fight against the dehumanizing of Palestinians as any other and clearly women are recognized as a big part of that. Women who are faced with the stigmatization of being Palestinians probably daily, who are limited from jobs and opportunities for being Palestinians but nothing as most poignantly highlighted in this short can silence them or stop them from making their stories clear and pointed. At once a tribute of Palestinian women, women in the face of oppression but especially now, it’s a reminder of the people, strength and courage we’re currently losing, not enough people has listened or help them then but now the consequences are unveiling and many people but especially women and children are having to pay for the narrative of reinforced upon them, the neglect, the shame, the fear but never forget the history of Palestinians are the history of people.
