Interesting, especially in terms of documentary. Rouch’s cinema verite question of “truth” is particularly poignant here, but I think it makes an enjoyable film regardless of what is actually true. I’m usually pro-documentary reinactments, and I think this film proves my point.
Also just goes to show that, often the key to documentary is choosing the right subject, which they do here.
