This thing is insane. I have no idea what I just watched. Not a good movie, but it commits to being one of the most movies. If I told you what happened in it you’d never believe me. Not many kind things to say here, outside of if I turned my brain off completely there’s enough going on that it’s very watchable. I did watch the show. It’s fine. The format is far better suited to TV. Time to watch 350 episodes of Gintama just to watch that movie and give it like a 7/10. I will watch every 4.0+ film of the 2020s if it kills me.

first rewatch after i got into takarazuka. oh woah. life-changing. i can talk about this film until the end of time but i have three main observations for this rewatch:

1.) im so glad that the makers not only said "what if takarazuka was actually lesbian?" but also said "what if we took one of the most severe applications of late-stage capitalism and made it communist?" theyre truly masterminds

2.) on my first watch, i was disappointed with revue of souls because i thought it wasnt as grand as i wanted it to be (esp coming right after the chilling revue of hunting) but understanding the context in which revue starlight is located in and critiquing, it is the most grandiose, referential and thematically important part of this multimedia project, in my opinion.

3.) revue of rebirth is really good actually. dün akıllıydım karen aijou'yu sevmiyordum, bugün bilgeyim karen aijou'yu anlıyorum.
