While I really enjoyed all the wacky gore (it snows blood!), I feel like I’m running into a wall with my blindspots from mid-2000s South Korean horror.
A lot of these cheaper studio features seem to be chasing the success of both Ring (single mom protagonist!) and A Tale of Two Sisters (huge plot twist!). But what they get totally wrong is writing a fairly unlikeable and mean female lead who is too often punished for not enduring her husband cheating on her.
But there are some pretty unique horror elements here that don’t feel stale. Also the credits theme is a total banger.
This really should have just been called Red Flag, though.
