Really good romance and story in this one my only gripes are the cliche romance hits of the times, but that really doesn't make this film bad. I saw someone say how this is like the meshing of young and old hollywood and I agree.
One year later we pretty much start the exit of the hays code and censorship era of Hollywood films like Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and The Long Hot Summer share the same themes as this movie and are the echoes of old hollywood, but you have allusions to sex in this which is something that could be shown more in a new hollywood. In 1967 the New Hollywood burst onto the scene and the rest is history.
Redford and Wood have amazing chemistry in this film and do well with Tennessee Williams' story and Francis Coppola's Script.
