The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps, who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true identity.

This is one of those movies that may as well be considered a first watch even though I DID see it once (it was long enough ago that I was bragging to my friends at school that I watched a horror movie on a weeknight). This was really cool and super gothic- not sure how much I like the ending and some parts were a bit slow but still a great time with some good atmosphere and scares. I think Daniel Radcliffe could play Victor Frankenstein well! He’s really got the period piece gothic angst vibe down. Put Daniel Radcliffe in more gothic horror 2025!!!!!!!
(edit I have found out he IS in a Frankenstein adaptation but he plays Igor….interesting)
