This is a placeholder for the broadway musical, since apparently Letterboxd only has the "In Concert" versions, and also a bunch of film adaptations that aren't the 2012 one that I've never heard of before. Interesting. Anyway, this is the best stage musical of all time. A few things come a little close, but every time I listen to the soundtrack of this show, or see videos of a broadway performance of it, I'm just reminded of how perfect it is. Valjean and Javert are some of the best characters ever put to stage. Shoutout to Javert for representing us Baritones! I can't wait until I'm 30 so I can properly sing his songs. The music is incredible, and the singing is legendary, but the acting is really good too, there a lot of emotional moments in this show. So as good as the music is, and it's truly amazing, it's as good as everyone says it is. But I have to praise the writing of the book/story of the show itself. It's a fascinating story about redemption and love, and I will never forget it. A perfect adaptation of one of if not the greatest novels ever written. Also stop arguing about who the best Valjean is. They all kill it, and hot take, if Hugh Jackman didn't starve and dehydrate himself, cry while singing, or sing live on set, he would have been great too.
