I was a journalist way back in elementary and high school. I was one of the prides of my school because I wrote articles, I was a radio broadcaster, and a national contender. Came college, I took up Communication Arts. When I was in my second year we had this subject called Media Law and Ethics and one of our topics include cyber libel. Our Atty/prof had tapped cyber libel lightly enough to discussed the prolonged cases of Maria Ressa vs. Duterte regime.
Imagine a student who was once dreamt of becoming a full-time journalist—was once a journalist—stumbled upon this film and dedicated her time to retrospectively rekindling lessons latched onto the film and spiraling her own observations of the contemporary crisis.
The fact that it was obvious in the film how the current government treats the industry of media as a menace. A plague to their debauchery that almost seemed tangible because of the perpetual negligence and irresponsibility of handling COVID-19. The media industry stood tirelessly to deliver exemplary news and updates globally that the government thought of it as a threat. What the fuck.
