The scene where Nina Li Chi is beaten up by Chow Yun-Fat (via thrown into a table) followed by the two falling in love was a very bizarre sequence of events I must say.
The literal chainsaw duel at the end made up for it though... possibly

I don’t think I’m saying anything original when I point out that Chow Yun-Fat is incredible. I have recently been working through his filmography, and he is just so great.
In this movie, he gets to be both charming and badass, while also getting to be silly.
This movie as a whole is a joy to watch, as it is very fast paced, and even though there is not much action until the end, chow is consistently funny.
I will say, that even by 80s action movie standards, this movie is a bit weird about women. Like the way Donna is treated is psychotic.
But other than that, this movie is a blast. And the chainsaw fight at the end is the stuff of legend. Fun time!
