The action was absolutely electric, however I had trouble caring about everything surrounding it. Would watch again though, especially with friends.

The gender politics on this movie are not necessarily very good. Our two heroes are violent chauvinists, and at one point Li tortures Marydonna for a rather long scene, which is troubling, but to be fair, if Chow Yun Fat tortured me, I would also fall in love.
I watched with a friend, who I think liked it a lot.
Now, with some of the narrative problems this movie is not necessarily the best. It's hard to get behind this Sergeant Li or his buddy, But if I'm being honest, I didn't jump into this thing to "root" for a pair of "good guys," I came here for gunplay, crazy car stunts, tons of kicks, guys tumbling out of windows, shotguns rigged on strings, chainsaw duels, and, look, just being honest, Nina Li Chi looking all sweaty after her workout. I mean, holy shit.
"You've got a pretty sister, you motherfucker."

The scene where Nina Li Chi is beaten up by Chow Yun-Fat (via thrown into a table) followed by the two falling in love was a very bizarre sequence of events I must say.
The literal chainsaw duel at the end made up for it though... possibly
