Terry Gilliam's influence on this film's animation is so evidence that you can actually show parallels visually. Someone should make a visual comparison of the two.
I'm sure I would have loved it more if I had more insider knowledge of Russian cultural history, but even without it - this is insanely creative and wonderfully inventive, both visually and comedy and wiring wise.
