Definitely long and some could argue, anti climactic. I wasn’t obsessed and in awe during, but I realized afterwards that my attention was totally held for the full length of the movie which is impressive considering how slow it is and how short my attention span is. The beautiful / boundary pushing music of that time definitely played a huge role in this.

In a previous review I proposed the question, “Is Buddy the Elf the real king of New York?”. After my viewing of A Complete Unknown, I now wish to re-propose the question on who the king of New York actually is.

Is it Bob Dylan? Is it Timothée Chalamet? Is it still Buddy the Elf? Maybe it’s Melo? Juan Soto maybe (LFGM)?

Given his recent press tour and the impending success of this movie, I honestly think it might be Timmy. He’s so fucking talented. His portrayal of Bob Dylan (from the perspective of someone who only knew about Bob Dylan through the trend of wearing a short light jacket in the freezing cold), seemed excellent. It’s a confused man with thoughts blazing through his head that can only come out through literature in the form of music. Going to and from women, with no remorse for their feelings, in search for utilizing the feelings they provide him as a medium to write more music.

I am absolutely amped to obsessively listen Dylan’s music for the next week straight. If you have any recommendations please let me know :)

Okay, don’t hate me for saying this, but I really didn’t know who Bob Dylan was before I saw this movie. What drew me in was the trailer I saw several times on YouTube, and I'm a big fan of most of the actors featured in the film. I know absolutely nothing about Bob Dylan; I can't name any of his songs or anything, but I absolutely loved this movie.

Timothée Chalamet is amazing in the main role. Like I said, I went into this not knowing a single Bob Dylan song or anything about him. But after watching the movie, I feel like I get him a lot better. I really liked Bob’s journey for fame, how he later turned his back on it, and how he refused to fit into any mold. Plus, I enjoyed all the songs he sang in the film! If I had to pick favorites, I’d go with “The Times They Are a-Changin’,” which he did at the Newport Festival, and “Masters of War,” which he played at the bar. Also another thing that stuck out to me and I really liked was how, even with managers, crowds, or big record companies didn’t get Dylan and the way he was trying something different with music, other artists or his pen pal  ‘Johnny Cash’ could tell they were witnessing something amazing. ‘Johnny Cash’ told that annoying manager “When is the last time you saw a jukebox” 😭😭😭

Overall, THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME.
