I had watched this movie directly after I finished reading the book and this was an ok adaption.
It was hopeful in terms of achieving key parts of the book and remaining faithful. And it succeeded at times remaining faithful.
However, it’s weakness is its attempts to convey the plight of Florentino Ariza’s love for Fermina Daza as a novella, rather than what it was....a tragedy. What I will commend this movie for is it can be ultimately utilized as a supplementary piece to the literature as the portrayal of Dr. Juvenal Urbino and Florentino Ariza are fantastic and an aspect I enjoyed. As well as the portrayal of their “lovers”.
