'funny face' is very much a visually rich film; lots of layers, texture and background in each frame. it's also very well colored. although, the film (in very few words) is about the effects of new york gentrification; the driving narrative of the overall film felt very flat and mundane to me. i would have really liked some intense, violent sequences perhaps? just something to keep things going, continuously; felt very flat to me story-wise.
