nothing really groundbreaking or interesting going on here. a lot of it feels too conveniently written and heavy handed to create artificial and uneven drama, but there are a few nice and funny moments where these people actually feel like real friends.
you can see the twist coming pretty early on but somehow that doesn't totally rob it of its tonal payoff. it's fine. kind of trite. a few chuckles. overall not the worst thing in the world but mostly forgettable. if your dad is over 50, he'll probably love it.
