Wake Up (2020) DIR. Olivia Wilde
This short film delivers a really raw and moving message, which depicts how screens and technology have, currently, and probably will continue to take over the human race, but despite that, the most powerful connection that we as humans maintain is the one we sustain and continue to share with one another. Decent watch, I love the way Wilde carries the message that the protagonist (Margaret Qualley) is put in society and is simply portrayed as invisible and having all power due to all extras in this being seen as not just invisible but close to non-existent.
This is very comparable to the point of view that Brooks gains when he is released from Shawshank in Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption. Very moving, really interesting concept. The way Wilde addresses the consumption of technology and its impact on societal norms is inspiring and intriguing.
