Another one for the list “Damn, now that’s crazy.”
The story is pretty silly centering around a Star Wars-esque romance (woah, same year. That’s kinda crazy), but fortunately it spends most of its runtime embellishing in itself. Honestly, the best way to talk about this movie is simply all the cool things it does, which is a lot. So here are a few examples: bone dart gun, snake missiles (think Conan but amped), laser gun fingers (think Yu Yu Hakusho), fire breathing wizard on stilts, animal fights including a man-in-gorilla costume and giant python. As crazy as the movie gets, there are a few errors that still managed to stand out. The aforementioned stilt wizard has a few scenes where he is clearly not walking on stilts so much so that you do catch a glimpse of his real foot. I’m trying to get lost in the insanity here. The martial arts leave a bit to be desired. Some of the combat closer resembled martial flailing as opposed to arts. Overall this was a blast. Not as top tier as something like The Boxer’s Omen, but still wild and fun. This type of movie gives me great pleasure.
